<p>Well, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that Asian males will never match Whites or Blacks in the dating market in the US.</p>

<p>This has to do MOSTLY with bad MEDIA representation. But if asians had a larger population, the networks would not dare. So yea, if Asian guys /girls complain about media and soceity treating them bad and then decide to only have one child so they can afford a mercedes or other useless stuff, then it’s their fault. Remember that non-mixed, non-white hispanics were once seen as horrible by hispanic women, who preferred to date whites. Then they had many kids, upped the population statistics, and now media is afraid to protray them badly since they don’t wanna lose revenue. </p>

<p>If you were a media station and a race was 4% and another race was 20-30% of the population, which would you make fun of and stereotype? obviously the smaller popluation one…</p>

<p>Also, politicians would cater/actually listen to asians if they were more percentage of the population. Politicians are afraid to talk bad about certian issues becuase hispanics might get upset and not vote for them. But since asians are only 4% and not increasing due to marriage to white, and mixed kids marking white on Census, theyu are fair game to slaughter.</p>

<p>so yea…Most asians can AFFORD more kids, they just wanna spend the money on expensive cars (asian men) and gucci/prada/louis vutton/chanel bags (asian women) or big houses for show (both sexes) OR using that money for a harvard/ivy league education for their ONE kid. Asians go to IVY leagues to prove they are as capapble as whites…but if asians were more than 4% there would be less discrimination and they wouldn’t have to prove and even have to go to a good college…Whites go to no-name college and still get middle class since they can network with other whites. asians can’t, the population is too small.</p>

<p>but we all know that ain’t gonna happen…asians like their money way too much, and so in the end Asian Activist groups are just gonna spend their time writing letters of complain to media and these letters don’t do ANYTHING. Nothing much is gonna change in you or your child’s lifetime if you keep repeating the pattern here.</p>

The Japenese upped their protein and they are now as tall as american (AKA majority white) men. many northern asians like mongolians, koreans, northern chinese with large amounts of protein in their diets are tall. Most short asians in the US are Southern Chinese, Viet, fillipinos, hmong/lao/cambodian. They still stick to their rice/veggie diets (just look at viet food, mostly everything made with rice flour and tiny bits of meat, except for pho</p>

This is becuase the white guys that enslaved blacks only “bought” the ones who were large, tall, and good for fieldwork to bring over to america. ALso the white slave masters would breed the black people…seriously…they would take the largest woman/man and make them have large, tall kids, and then sell them for more money.</p>

But if you take rednecks, blacks, hispanics you’ll find who has the highest standard for living. I mean sorry for breaking your idealistic dream but I’d like to live comfortably than in poverty or at a dead end job. Also the family values espoused by most asians (indians in particular) are better hands down than any other race. Another thing I can rarely find families in which the parents aren’t separated. Guess who comprises the majority of that, asians ofcourse. I’m quite sure if we were to compare divorce and separation rates they will be highest among blacks and whites, not so much hispanics. So i don’t know about the dating market but I sure can see who has better values.</p>

<p>The fact that asians don’t start shouting over things like dom imus or other stuff just means that they are more mature than any other subgroup in the US.</p>

<p>1) Your diet explanation is a tangent. You are essentially confirming that height is smaller among asians, which hurts them in the dating market. An absolutely massive thing which is not in any single way media related.</p>

<p>3) Your thing about black men is not related to this debate at all. Although I will retract my point on Blacks being taller, I’m not sure this is true.</p>

<p>Wow, Mr Payne. Judging from many of the other race-related posts you make, I think I wouldn’t be far off if I summarized your view of the world’s races as the following:</p>

<li>Blacks are dumb and violent</li>
<li>Arabs/Iranians/Muslims/non-Eastern European Mohammad-lovers are savagely superstitious and unreasonable</li>
<li>Latinos are lazy and have a disturbing tendency of overrunning so-called White nations</li>

<p>Yes, but the point I was making was that those who are NOT shy and unattractive have more or less a reasonable chance of dating whoever they want. I know this from personal experience: homely Asian guys who are outgoing and alpha male-like get girls. Period. The ones that can’t are always geeky and afraid of socializing with non-Asians. Does that describe the majority of Asians in America? Perhaps unfortunately so. But my point is that once Asians learn to relax and stop being so self-conscious about their race, they will no longer be the black sheep in the dating pool. Of course, it doesn’t help that America’s full of people like Mr Payne who love to tell struggling minorities that their biology is destiny.</p>

<p>And yes, Asians are generally shorter than Whites (though Koreans are, on average, as tall as some of the shorter Euros like French and Spaniards). But girls don’t date an average national figure: they date the individual. Wait, now you’re gonna tell me that there hardly exists an Asian guy who’s 6 ft. or taller? There are plenty of them around for those who want to notice them. No wonder your views on race are so stereotypical, since you’re a desk jockey and not a field expert.</p>

<p>And it’s not as if raw height is everything. Some of the smoothest chick magnets I know are only around 5’8". </p>

<p>Just take someone like Daniel Dae Kim, the Korean-American actor on “Lost”. By many standards, he’s just an average Asian guy. Sure, he’s got a buff body, but he’s not exceptionally good-looking or even tall. Yet go on any Lost fan forum and women go gaga over this guy. Why? Because he’s actually presented like a human being who feels passion and love. It doesn’t take an astute social observer to realize how rare it is to see an Asian male portrayed as anything more than a one-trick sideshow.</p>

<p>Payne, as a girl, I too agree with nbarchris2788. We girls like confidence and good looks which can be found in any race. You don’t see a lot of Asians dating other races because there aren’t that many Asians around in the first place. But I know at my school, where there are many Asians, I drool over some hot Koreans from abroad. </p>

<p>Mcqdeltat, nice defense of your race but don’t slip up and insult other as well. (it’ll weaken the argument) Ignoring a comment like Don Imus’ is not mature, but neglectful. Black people in this country have learned not to let other belittle them for any reason because they remember the consequences too well. Just as a Jewish person in Europe would not take kindly to any form of antisemitism. </p>

<p>I believe that in order for Asians to recieve the respect that they have worked for, deserve, but have not obtained they need to speak out more. Even if they are only 4% of the population, that’s more than enough for a movement of change in this country.</p>

Sometimes I complain about how there are hardly any Black women on TV and then I remember that Asians, including Indians, have it much worse. <p>I dunno about the whole Asian thing in media. Media revolves around pop culture, and Asian-Americans really do not play a significant role in it. stereotypical roles on television and movies exist for all minorities, not just Asians. Its just how the American people view the society, and they want to see what they essentially think. It’s probably true that the average American who does not interact with many Asians believe that all speak Engrish. It just how our society is. Can’t change that.</p>

<p>That being said, I would feel kinda uneasy seeing an Asian playing a regular role in a Hollywood movie. It could just be that there really aren’t any movies where the protagonist is played by an Asian, but like I said, I don’t think Asians have much of a place in American pop culture. How many Asian actors are there? Music Artists? Not many. Face it, Asians are essentially non-existent in American pop culture. </p>

<p>I am Asian myself and if I want to watch Asian actors, I will watch movies from Chinese and Hong Kong cinema. Even I feel uneasy seeing an middle-aged Asian actor speaking perfect English on screen. It’s just not something people are used to. Not even me. My parents and all their friends do not speak perfect English, they all have an accent. Maybe next generation, there might be more Asians represented in the media; but right now, its just how it is.</p>

So why are we so ignored? Well look at it this way…Lets say all the Asians in the US decide to move into say, Canada. Will the US economy crumble?</p>
