Question for current students

What is an average Sunday morning/afternoon like at Brown? Is there much going on? I’m thinking about taking a job that would involve working on Sundays, and am curious if I’d be missing out on a lot of on campus activity if I left for a couple of hours.

I think Sunday tends to be the work/relax day of the weekend- I don’t think you’d be missing much in particular. At least among my friends, Sunday is for homework or maybe sleeping in.

Sunday is usually a work day for me. You might want to think twice about taking an off-campus job your first semester, though. Give yourself time to adjust before you overcommit.

^Agreed about the job. You probably won’t lose out on that much by putting it off a semester, if you can. If you value being social, sunday was my most social work day (as in, it’s when i’d meet with groups the most to go over homework, etc.) my freshman year, and just because it’s not a “let’s go out” day in general, something will suffer if you don’t give yourself large blocks of time to work (college is different than high school: if you have 10 free minutes you likely won’t do anything, and won’t feel like you can really get anything done unless you have at minimum 1 hour free, but usually more like 4 hours).

Then again, I know a lot of people who need filled schedules in order to keep on schedule. Just realize that the end of the semester is almost always going to feel harder than shopping period, so you may want to put off making important time-commitment decisions until after you get back your first few problem sets/write your first couple papers/have your first few midterms (depending on which types of classes you take) point (if you NEED a job, then this is a different situation).
