Question for Lindz on Testudo Schedules

Lindz - as I look at the schedules of classes online, some of the science sessions have an “M” (which appear to be lab only), others have an “H” (which I’mguessing is honors) and others have an “S” following the class number. Do you know what the “S” is for? For example - the first Biology class they are telling me I should take is BSCI106. All of the “regular” sessions are closed already. It seems that during an online chat, someone from the science department told me that they “save” sections for science majors. I’m just wondering if thats what the “S” sections are.

Otherwise - I’m out of luck before I even show up - because all of the sections of the course that is a pre-requisite to just about every science class I need to take are already closed - presumably filled by upperclassmen filling their CORE lab science requirement.

Ugh.

Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

I have no idea. You’re right about the H being Honors. Usually a letter will indicate that it’s for a major (I’ll use business as an example since I know it: BMGT230B vs BMGT230 is only for business majors), but they always specify that it’s for majors only. Sometimes the letters are for a certain program, like Scholars (but it’s not always an S), but I’d think they’d specify that also.
If you look on the website of the science department, you should find the phone #s or email addresses of some advisors. Email one of them and ask; they should know.

Also, I noticed that there are only 5 seats that were available in each section. They might open more up as freshman orientations start (to end up with about 20 in each section), especially considering it’s a 100-level class that should be mostly freshmen anyway. Keep an eye out for that at the beginning of the summer.

Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!

You’ve given me hope! That might make sense - the “S” being for a science major. I thought the 5 seats in each section was really weird too - especially for a lower level class. I’m going to try and get someone on the phone tomorrow - when I get an answer, I’ll post. GGT

Lindz - heard from a prof in Bio tonight. There are seats available which aren’t listed online - which are saved for majors. Ahhhh…relief

GGT-- great!! glad it worked out for you :)
