I saw saw something online on Facebook a few years ago so I saved it for future reference. I can’t read the bottom part clearly enough to give credit for whomever did it. These are not my words.
Regarding these “7 Cardinal Rules for Life” how well do you think (1) you adhere to them and (2) each of your kids adheres to them? You can answer for your spouse/partner/Sig Other also if you want.
The rules are:
- Make peace with your past (so that it doesn't disturb your present).
- What other people think of you (is none of your business).
- Time heals almost everything (give it time).
- No one is on charge (of your happiness except you).
- Don't compare your life to others (and don't judge them. You have no idea what their journey is about).
- Stop thinking too much (it's alright not to know the answers. They will come to you when you need them).
- Smile (you don't own all the problems in the world).
–I think these rules sum up pretty well what it is to be happy and adaptable.
–I think happy people don’t let things get them down for long.
–I am not good at following #2 or #5.
–But, overall, I think I have pretty good emotional health.
–I think my kids are happy people too.
–My oldest son is far more serious and stern than his little brother.
–But, he is certainly not troubled in life.
–My youngest son is happy go lucky.
–Both my kids can handle pressure, problems, set backs etc. just fine.
–My wife tends to be happy also based in large part of her faith.
