I have watched Scandal off and on, but never watched the first season which I’m told included the guy (Desmund from Lost) who won the auction for Olivia. Can anyone tell me a little about his character and why he was so indebted to Olivia?
Thanks!

He was a gladiator, which implies Olivia had saved his a$$. I believe during the first season he was supposed to have just departed.
I’ve watched it from the beginning and didn’t remember him at all, although his face did look familiar. I just figured it was an old gladiator.
Yes, he was a gladiator. He was always torn between being a gladiator and being in love and Olivia always seemed to push him toward love. I suppose saving him again?
Thanks! I loved him in Lost, but I wish they’d done some kind of flashback during the reveal!
I wondered that too.
Also, I wonder who exactly thinks Fitz is attractive, a good fit for Olivia or that they have any kind of chemistry but I fear I may never get an answer to that one…
But that being said, I wonder how “out of the loop” he really is. How was he aware of the auction on the dark web and where did he get that kind of money to win it? Maybe next season we will hear more about this.
@OHMomof2…I’ve thought the same thing about Fitz. What in the world does she see in him? He just doesn’t seem like a strong, upstanding leader that Olivia and Sirus keep telling him he is. He seems weak and whiny to me. I think he’s awful to Millie, no matter what Millie is…she loved him. I also don’t feel the chemistry they are supposed to have. I’m Team Jake!
Um, I do! Does anyone else remember the scene early in their relationship where he asks her just to stand with him in a hallway before opening a door? [fans self]
Apparently many people do like him, and them as a couple. He just grosses me out. Different strokes I guess.
I’m with you @conmama, Team Jake all the way!
Yeah, Jake: the guy who murdered James. The only advantage he has is that he is not married to someone else.
I just rewatched the last three episodes because I thought I’d missed stuff. I have no recollection of Steven, although it was great that he turned up.
Well, everyone in that show has either killed or contributed to the killing of someone. If you rule that out in a possible mate, that will take all of the fun out of the show haha.
While I think it’s slimy that Fitz is married, and keeps leading Olivia on and breaking promises and stuff, I think my reaction to him is just visceral and not based on logic really…he literally gives me the heebie jeebies. Maybe it’s the actor himself, but I don’t recall seeing him in anything else.
Of course he killed someone too, the supreme court justice. Pretty much everyone has.
Yeah, but Jake killed someone I cared about.
@parentofpeople I believe that Abby asked David Rosen for help regarding the auction to tap his contacts, thus leading them to Russia (with Stephan). I believe that is how they got in contact with him.
Stephen was a womanizer and a main character during the first season of Scandal. He charms his way into getting info for Olivia, but manages to offend Abby. He is mentioned in the second season but did not return to the series saying it was not a good fit. The writers wrote him off saying he proposed to Georgia and moved to Boston. How he got to Russia is never addressed and there is no plan at this time to bring him back
kgos16 so these people can never really be out… just when they think they are, they get dragged back in. ~X(
@OHMomof2, the actor who plays Fitz was also the bad guy in Ghost, the one who embezzled all the money and had Sam killed.
It took me a few episodes of Scandal to begin to accept him as a different character!
@bearpanther - I had no idea! But i loved that movie so maybe that’s why I have that reaction to him. He killed Patrick Swayze!
