If you have already attended STAR Day, then please verify the following:

If we earned an Associate’s Degree from our community college, are all our SAS General Education Requirements considered complete?

If so, if Rutgers hasn’t processed our updated transcripts which include our Spring 2011 Grades AND our degrees earned, should we be registering for classes AS IF all our SAS General Education requirements are completed on Degree Navigator on myRutgers?

Note: I emailed, and they confirmed that they have received my updated transcripts, which include Spring 2011 grades and proof of Associate’s Degree, but they said they will not start updating our transfer evaluations until late summer.

On STAR Day, they separated us into different presentations based on credits and those with associate’s degrees, and I believe for for people who have earned, or expecting to earn, an associate’s degree, they said a majority of us will have all our SAS General Education requirements fulfilled. Please verify this if you have attended your STAR Day.

All your general requirements are complete if you have an associates and you fulfilled the requirements of the “NJ statewide transfer agreement”. Google what I put in quotes and click on the pdf that shows up (it was the first link for me) and go to page 4. It shows what types of courses you should have taken according to your degree (A.A. or A.S.). If you have the amount of credits from each category you should be fine. A.S is so much easier to achieve in this than A.A.

I know for a fact that I have all of this complete so I didn’t need to complete any of the core classes. If you don’t think you apply to this, then register for a class from the ones that it says you need to complete in degree navigator. If you do apply, then register for whatever classes you need for you major. If your not sure, is it possible for you to choose a class that goes towards your major AND the requirement? That would be the wise choice.

At my STAR day they told me this too. Be sure to send in a letter stating you tested out of the technology/computer requirement (unless you took a class in it). Those that will have their general requirements fulfilled are those that follow the agreement: they have their degree and they took all the credits necessary.

johnlmescal, it really depends on your credits. I have a friend who just graduated with 70 credits and an associates degree but only 43 credits are being accepted by Rutgers. I didn’t really ask her why, but I know that some of the credits she took was folk dancing and some aerobics class. So pointless classes like that may not be accepted. In my first point in my previous post I said to google that agreement. Try to see if you agree to all of those and you should be a junior. Also go to the njtransfer website and evaluate your credits yourself.

No one will tell you for sure until you get everything officially evaluated.

o ok, thanks for the reply its greatly appreciated. I tried contacting RU admissionsand Registars office but they wont talk to me because im not a current student
