Question for UCD Admissions

My son just completed his Freshman year of high school. He is taking a UC transferable 2 unit 54 hour guitar class at the local community college. Will this count for his 1 year UC art requirement?

it doesn’t appear as if would meet the f - Visual and Performing Arts requirement since the course is not worth at least 3 semester (4 quarter) transferable units. Please see [University of California - Counselors](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/adminfo/freshman/advising/admission/subjectr.html) for information on the courses that will meet requirements.

Thank you for the reply. If he is interested in taking more music courses will earning at least 3 transferable units meet the requirement?

As long as the course is a UC Transferable course worth at least 3 semester (4 quarter) units and satisfies the definition of a VPA course found at [University of California - Counselors](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/adminfo/freshman/advising/admission/agr.html) then it will meet the requirement. Taking 3 different one unit courses will not meet the requirement.
