My son was nominated by his school for a Goizueta, so he submitted his RD application and his scholarship application in late October. He realizes Goizueta is a very long shot for him but is hopeful to be at least admitted and, by previous year’s numbers, seemed to have a very strong chance. Now I’ve read on here about people who received “likely letters,” which he hasn’t. Does that suggest he’s not even going to be admitted? Or do I need to just get busy on my New Year’s resolutions and quit worrying about all this?

I do not believe Emory sends out likely letters. Emory does send out a letter after receiving applicants’ test scores that basically says that your scores are in range of accepted students, but test scores are not everything. These ranges are just ranges, and there are always students accepted that fall on either side of the range.
