Permissions like this are just one of the many in a life-long line of them, and once your child hits college and is 18 he’ll be completing a ton of them on his own.
I understand (and echo) your concern about keeping personal information as protected as possible, but sometimes you just have to surrender to the systems in place for the sake of expediency and try to protect your information on the back end as best you can.
