Question on Financial Aid

I know how financial aid at NYU isn’t the best.

If you have an income of <40K how will you fare? On average what is the financial aid offered to students and does this include loans or is mainly grants?

Also should I not waste my time applying to NYU, and apply instead to other schools like Tufts and Dartmouth which would offer me full grants? Like I expect to receive a lot of financial aid and grants from BU and BC and if given very little from NYU I don’t think I’d like to burden myself with >150K in debt.

How were your financial aid packages?

my family income ~40k, 6 people. my results:
nyu full ride.
bc not so full, but close.
ivys not so full, but close.
*note this all includes dorm.

financial aid is even weirder than admissions…

btw tufts ended need blind admissions for the last round of thier applicants this year. If you have an income below 40K combined you should get massive grants.

Weird, stressedout!!! NYU only gave me like $25,000-30,000 in grants & scholarships, and then another $25,000 in work studies & loans, but BC gave me pretty close to a full ride, like only $8000 a year that I would have to pay back in loans & such.

I’m not sure of my family’s income but it’s pretty low, my mom has been out of work on disability for like 7years now.
