Question on Not Meeting Cornell's "Guaranteed" Transfer Option Requirements

I was offered a TO for fall 2019 but will not be getting a “B” in one of my classes (thus failing to meet the minimum requirement). Online, it states that my application will then be reviewed with the regular transfer applicants and that “the selection committee will evaluate each application on a case-by-case basis and take into account that the applicant was offered the TO.” I was wondering whether I can still assume my acceptance is “guaranteed” or whether I messed up big time and just probably lost admission to Cornell.

I do not know whether you will be admitted but failure to meet the minimum requirements of the transfer option means you will be considered as a regular transfer applicant and thus risk being rejected. In that situation, the fact that you were offered the transfer option becomes a possible favorable factor that will be considered in evaluating whether to accept you as transfer, but admission is not guaranteed.

@drusba I have heard decisions are set to be released in the coming weeks. My second semester grades will likely not be finalized until after decisions come out so does this then mean that I am not at risk? I am asking this for they will then have already made a decision before they see that I failed to meet a minimum requirement for a course.

@levelinfluence - I don’t think second semester grades will matter, as the most recent grades they ask for before making a decision are midterm grades. How did you hear about when decisions come out? Are decision dates different for ILR vs. CAS?
