i can satisfy my foreign language requirements for UCLA by taking the East Asian languages test? Does anyone know how hard it is?

yes you can. you’ll have to take the one for your specific language. most are offered in late september around the time that you move into the dorms. you’ll have to pass level 3 to satisfy the foreign language requirement.

i dunno how hard it is, but i heard a lot of people didnt do as good as they thought. a lot of native speakers think they’re really good, but end up getting placed in either level 2 or level 3.

The foreign language requirements suddenly sound much harder…

bump. does anyone know specifically about the east asian language placement exam? Does UCLA offer Vietnamese classes?

How about if you got a 5 on a Language AP Exam… does that satisfy the foreign language requirement?

AP Foreign Language Exams satisfy the requirement, if that is what you mean.

Courses UCLA Offers: http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/catalog/catalog-curricul.htm

illusionalhopes, the answer is yes, but it’s not a major language offered.

The placement exams are available in many languages; you can pick the one you wish to do. It’s a few hours long test that consists of a multiple choice, writing, and interview section.

thank you!

you only need a 3 or higher on AP language tests to pass out of the language requirement.
