Question on Wait list

<p>Dear All,</p>

<p>The results of the RD is usually declared in April and by May 1 students accept or decline offers. I assume that it is after May 1 that wait-listed students are contacted by colleges. By which time the students certainly would have accepted an offer from another college. If a student, after accepting an offer from college B by May 1, wants to accept an offer from college A that made it from their waitlist after May 1, what kind of penalties would college B impose on the student that withdraws the acceptance ?</p>

<p>Usually, no more the minimum depoist required with acceptance (which can vary from school to school, bur seemed to average about $300).</p>
