Thought I would ask in case anyone on this forum knows about the size of the couch and the chair cushions in living rooms at Riverside West. D and her suitemates have decided they want to cover the purple couch, which of course requires coordinating with the chairs (girls – need I say more). Anyhow, there is a seamstress in the family who said they would make the furniture covers if she can get the measurements. I am assuming we need to know the length and height of the couch. For the chairs, in the pictures they look as if it is two cushions on a wooden frame. If anyon knows the size of the cushions (length / width / depth) that would be incredibly helpful.

I have been amazed at how much people know, so thought it couldn’t hurt to ask.

Thanks.

(btw–this is not john, it is his wife, john could care less about the color of the furniture)

My son was in Riverside West and I don’t remember it having purple cushions - I thought they had black - but I could be mistaken. I think each section of Riverside - East, West, and North - has a different color scheme. I remember seeing color boards in the housing office that had the fabric samples and color schemes for the different suites dorms.

you can call housing and ask for measurements (also ask what the color scheme is for Riverside WEST), but you can also do what the students did in the video for Riverside…It looks like used ready-made covers.

thanks for the info, i kniew someone would be able to point us in the right direction. the video is not working for me today. i will try again tomorrow from a different computer.

yeah the video isn’t working for me either.

maybe seatide would know. i didn’t realize that each section had a color scheme. i thought the furniture was all the same but the pattern could vary by room.

I was told the couches were purple in Riverside West as well. We’ll just add some gold pillows and throws to the couches and chairs, as we’re used to that color scheme where we’re from.

I measured my couch (non-upholstered) and its total length is around 82" and has a higth of 27". The upholstered couches in Riverside are most likely regular couches, which are a little longer, I’d say 84"-88". The total depth of the couch and chairs is 31" and the cushions on the chairs and couches 9same chairs in all residence halls) are about 21" square and are 6" thick.

Montegut, your post made me lol. The Riverside video is working for me, btw.

The Riverside video is working for me.

SEA_Tide…what do you mean that your couch is non-upholstered? Do you mean that you took the cushions off while measuring?

no, he means that his couch is the kind with wooden arms, not upholstered arms.

if you look at pictures from the different dorms, some have fully upholstered couches and some have the kind with 6 cushions on a wooden frame, kind of mission style.

the misson style ones would be really easy to cover.

Oh, I’ve only seen the mission style ones. I think the ones that look fully upholstered have couch covers on them, but I could be wrong.

Ok…I hadn’t scrolled down.

That is a change in the couches. When my son was in Riverside West in 07, they had the mission style.

Thanks you SEA_tide and everyone else who provided information! :-)

I sent my son’s girlfriend a note, as she lives in Riverside West. This is what she said…

“The sofa is, in fact, purple. It doesn’t have the wooden arms like in Lakeside, but the chairs do. The color scheme of the furniture is a blue, bronze and purple sort of thing.”

Hope that helps.

Yep, it looks like Riverside got some new sofas -upholstered on all sides! :)

The ones in 2007 were the mission style. These new ones are probably more comfortable.

i think the fully upholstered sofa arms would be WAY more comfortable!
