Question regarding the essay section of the Common App

Hey guys. Here’s the deal. I wrote an essay that I originally planned to be the common app essay that I would mass produce to all of my colleges. However, one of the colleges that I’m applying to, Emerson, requires an essay for their honors program; however, I am already answering the topic in my common app essay. So here’s my question: Is there any way to submit my original essay as the regular essay to all of the other schools that I’m applying to, except Emerson? From what I can tell from the common app website, if I put an essay into the Essay Box, it is automatically sent to every school that I am applying to.

I’m sorry if this doesn’t make much sense. If I’m not being clear enough, then let me know and I’ll explain further.

First, you fill out your Emerson essay and stuff… and send it to EMERSON ONLY. Then, after the App has been sent, edit the form and essay as you want it for the other colleges, and send it to those colleges. :)

Alternatively, you can send the paper version of the application to Emerson via mail separately.

I haven’t looked at the common app this year but last year you could create different versions. You could create version 1 for a group of schools, Emerson could be version 2 which would allow you to make it different from version 1. Just a thought…
