Question: Retake a 34?

(Please don’t flame me)

34 is a very tricky score. It is not in the 35/36 range of perfection but it is not quite in the range of anything lower than a 30. Is it reasonable for a will-be high school junior to retake (especially if this student a.k.a me wants to go to Harvard or Stanford)?

Thanks!!

ACT scores arent everything but a 34 is good. I know a kid at my school who got into MIT and Harvard with a 34… probably could have gotten into stanford also. He had great EC and recs though. So anyways, a 34 is good but if u really want higher then go for it. its upto you

sure retake it if you’re only going into 11th grade. I’m doing something similar but with the SAT. I got a 2280 as a sophomore but I’m retaking it junior year.

If this was the SAT and you got 2200 (~34), obviously it would be no. Since its the ACT, you can take it again if you want since nothing worse can happen in your admissions process if you take it one more time or 20 more times, and it can only improve since you dont have to send those ACT scores in if u get below 34.

Do it if you think u can get above that without going insane.

2280 is the SAT equivalent. I’d retake.

What else are you doing with your time?

Why do you think a score of 35 or 36 would make a meaningful difference compared to a 34?

I would say not to retake, but since you’re only going to be a junior you might as well take it again next spring.

You would probably gain more admission impact by doing some SAT Subject Test preparation rather than doing an ACT retake.
