my friend from oxford is applying to transfer out to some ivy’s but has failed a year? should he bother? he did have extenuating circumstances which he plans on explaining (i think) and a great first year but will that big fat F just freak HYS out? thanks.

he failed a year, or failed a class? The F would probably freak them out, but anyone from oxbridge proved themselves during hs/a levels, so that’s going for him. A lot of it probably depends on extenuating circumstances.

failed a year - at oxford your grades depend solely on end of year exams

so he failed all 8 exams or whatever he was taking? Unless the circumstances were really good, he can’t get in, and if it was that good, surely Oxford would have done something about it.
