Questions about 14.01, 14.02

What texts are used in these two classes? I’m planning on doing an indep. study
at the AP Econ level. Do these two classes study same topics studied in AP Econ but just more difficult. Basically, how closely do these resemble AP Econ - Micro and Macro?

Thank you

According to MIT’s web site 14.01 and 14.02 are more the equivalent of intermediate micro and macro-economics courses at other institutions and much more analytical than any AP course. MIT does not give credit for AP economics courses and does not consider them as alternative prerequisites to 14.01 or 14.02 in order to take more advanced economics classes. Essentially they go much more in depth in theory and require much greater use of mathematics.

14.02 is an OCW course and can be consulted online.

Textbooks in economics at MIT are generally published by the faculty.
Here is the one for 14.02
