Questions about Create Your Own Music

<p>I was admitted to the Music Industry program and there’s a requirement to take part in an ensemble for 2 semesters…I probably have enough violin experience that I could do orchestra if I practiced a lot over the summer (haven’t been in orchestra for a while) but I don’t feel like participating in that ensemble, and it’s the only one I’m qualified for. Create Your Own Music is supposed to be for those with “little or no” instrument experience…does that mean you get taught an instrument in the process? Could I go into the class and learn to play guitar or sax or drums or etc. etc. etc…</p>

<p>Short version: Are you taught to play an instrument in Create Your Own Music and, if so, are you allowed to pick the instrument?</p>

<p>The description of the course on the music department website mentions something about clinics on how to play different instruments. The whole thing sounds pretty lenient so I’m sure you’ll be fine. Do you play any other instruments? Plenty of time to practice over the summer. :P</p>
