Questions about electronic gadgets

I have two questions, one about iPhones and the other MacBook Pro.

Do iPhone 5 (not 5S) and iPhone 6 share the same kind of phone charger?

What is the expected “usable” life time for a Macbook Pro nowadays?
If we have a Macbook Pro (lowest performance Macbook Pro model when purchased) which is 4 yo, how much useful life time will we have for this Mac (before it becomes too sluggish)?

Thanks in advance.

Add another question: We also had a 7 years old Mac Mini (still working half year ago, but we do not have monitor and keyboard to use it any more.) Is it still worth “reviving” it (by purchasing a keyboard and a monitor for it) or it is too old to be useful? We used to have many keyboards and computer monitors but we got rid of all of them when we moved but we kept the Mac Mini box. My wife kept pesting me to make this Mac Mini up and running again but I am reluctant to spend any money on it. Does Goodwill still sell used monitor or keyboard?

We really do not need another computer (e.g., that Mac Mini) but there may be some files (do not remember what they are though) that may be of some “sentimental” value to us.

Yes, the charger for all iphones from 5 on are the “lightening” connector, including 5c, 5s, 6 & 6+.

How slow a surface pro you are willing to tolerate is wholly up to you. I have some ancient laptops which still work ok but are heavy and “slow.” We use it when speed isn’t important to us.

@HImom, Thanks for sharing the info.

A 4 year old MacBook Pro is fine. Many of the improvements in processors in recent years have reduced power usage not increase computing power in ways you’d notice unless you do specific things.

My MacBook Pro is almost six years old and it is running Yosemite.
This site is helpful with specs also.

Thanks!

For $150, I ordered a new battery and something else for my 2008 MacBook.
