Questions about sat

Hey guys, I am a freshman and have a few questions. So i’m not the best at math, will the sat math be hard? and another question is, what would be considered a good sat score? last question is will a prep book just help me instead of tutors??

If you’re bad at math, then it’s reasonable to assume you’ll have a bad time on a math test. However, the SAT math does a lot of reasoning and non-formulaic questions, so if you’re good at logic, you can get through a lot of it without being great at math.

As far as what score is good, it depends on where you’re shooting. 1900-2200 is average at most good but not elite schools, 2100-2300 is more typical at an Ivy League/Stanford type of school. You can still get somewhere with a lower score, and a higher score doesn’t guarantee admission.

About 3 months before you take the SAT, get a review book and take a practice test without preparation. If you’re above 650 in every subject, you’re better off self preparing. If you’re below in any of them, consider taking a prep class or getting a tutor if you have the money and want to pay it.
