I am interested in applying to UC Berkeley as a math major [possibly physics double-major] next fall [so applying for the fall of 2013]

These are the courses I have completed [with grades and units]:

Chinese 1 - C [5]
Chinese 2 - A [5]
Chinese 3 - A [5]
Differential Equations - B [4]
Linear Algebra - A [4]
Calculus-Based Mechanics - A [5]

So my questions are:

Will my C grade in Chinese 1 have a decent impact on my chances? Its really pulling my GPA down right now. I do not plan on applying for a major/minor in Chinese [oh and I’m white, never exposed to Chinese prior to this course].

How much will my SAT score impact my admission? I scored 2340. Also scored an 800 on Math II and 800 on Physics SAT Subject Tests.

I know the deadline to submit UC transfer apps in at the end of November. Do the colleges look at your grades for that Fall semester AFTER the term is over and BEFORE they make a decision regarding your admission? Are grades in that fall term just as important as any semester prior?

All the courses I listed above were taken concurrently while I was in highschool. Will this lessen the impact of some of my lower grades?

Thanks!

Ohh, and I also took 13 AP Exams while in highschool with the following scores:

AP US History - 5
AP Language - 5
AP Environmental Science - 5
AP Chemistry - 5
AP Human Geography - 5
AP Psychology - 5
AP Computer Science A - 5
AP Calculus BC - 5
AP American Government - 5
AP STAT - 4
AP European History - 3
AP Physics B - 3
AP Music Theory - 2

How much will these help my application?

Ohhh and I will be applying to transfer during my first year of [full time] Community College

Also, If I plan on enrolling as a math-physics double major at Berkeley or Santa Barbara, Assist told me I would need to take two semesters of Chem to fulfill two quarters of Chem at UCSB. Berkeley does NOT require Chemistry.

Do I NEED to have Chem completed by the end of Spring 2013, or would I be able to take it at UCSB in my first two semesters? I will have all other pre-reqs complete for math-physics double and all general eds done.

UC’s don’t care about your SAT if you transfer.

They look at your entire grade up to the last Fall semester grade. For example: If you are planning to transfer into Fall 2012, they will look at all your grades until Fall 2011. But still do good in Spring 2012.

What is your overall GPA? They care about is your GPA, IGETC, and Pre-req’s completed.

The “C” does not matter, your overall GPA does. However, it matters to schools like UCLA and Berkeley.
