Questions about writing THE essay

*Dialogue? I just want to use something to open and close the essay.

*Even though there is the “most meaningful EC” short essay, can I write my longer essay about my most meaningful EC (my job)?

*Italics or underline? Will this even show up on the commonapp online?

That’s all I can think of right now. Feel free to hijack this thread and ask your own questions.

Thanks!

The one thing I can answer is that italics/bold/underline do NOT show up when applying online. As for actually writing the thing, I’m more clueless than you are! XD

just don’t make it too long, otherwise they won’t read it even if you think it is wonderful. If they give a word limit stick to it.

Dialogue: as long as it isn’t too corny.

Work: I would be careful about writing your longer essay about another “meaningful ec,” as those types of papers can get bland pretty fast. If your job is really something meaningful, as well as fascinating (as in, you’re not describing your shift at McDonalds…), then it’s worth a shot. But if you’re just using the essay as another platform to enumerate your accomplishments at the workplace, I’d skip out.

Italics or underline?

If you’re using this to try to put more emphasis on something, I would suggest using a word that will inherently convey the emphasis you are trying to project. Hope this makes sense…

Best Wishes, Cardinal :)

thanks. And my job is really interesting and kind of plays into what I want to do in the future.
