Questions Questions

I am seriously considering Emory
and so i wanted to know more about the school

first, what are some of Emory’s strongest departments?
I know Emory is one of top 20 schools overall, but i have never heard of any particular majors emory is famous for

second, people say Southern colleges are “preppy” and some even tell me to avoid them
But i dont understand why it is such a big deal
its probably because i am an international student, but seriously, i want to know why people hate “preppy” schools and what being preppy exactly means

finally, how cold/hot does it get during winter/summer?

Thanks in advance!

Pre-Med, Pre-Law, and Business (especially Business and Med)

The students I saw were just as “preppy” as any students you might find at a private school, but they come from many different economic backgrounds. I did not find that generalization very true (I have also encountered Northern bias).

This winter they had a low temperature in the low 30 degrees F (that is what I heard) and the high is very hot in the summer- very humid.

other popular majors besides being pre-med and pre-law are psychology and political science. emory isn’t a typical southern school…i’m from the north and i really don’t feel like i’m in the south when i’m at emory…probably because most of the students who go to emory aren’t from the south (or thats how it feels, at least) and because atlanta isn’t a typical southern city because so many people from atlanta are originally from other cities.
