Questions relating to SSAT score

Hello.

I am applying for the schools NMH, Concord, Blair, and Hill. I got a 90% for my SSAT, and I feel that I did pretty well, although I could’ve done better. I have checked the SSAT percentile average for the schools I want to apply to, and they have all shown to be around 70%-80%. Is that data reliable? Since my score is 90%, does that give me a higher chance? I can almost be certain that I pass the SSAT “task” for the application (meaning that I feel that I have obvious problems in that area). My parents believe that the school isn’t good enough, do you think that I should apply again? Since it is, supposedly, an “above average” score, do you think that I should just leave it at that and work on other areas more?

If I do take the SSAT again, then it would have to be in January. I’ll have time to study a lot more during the holiday… is it really worth it?

(Also, I didn’t have time to finish my essay. Does that have a really big impact on my chances? Will they think “Oh she’s Asian and she’s bad at English” or something, even though I received an “alright” score for reading?)

Thank you!

90% is a fine score, you are well above the average for the schools you’ve named. I’d spend your time on the application essays. Especially if English ins’t your native tongue. SSATs are one of the least important factors in the admissions decision, as long as they show you are a strong student (which 90% shows; I’m assuming all of your subsets–math-verbal-reading–were roughly equal? None below 80%? If so you should be fine). Good luck!
