Questions that should be thrown out

Alright guys, this thread is to come up with some questions we thought that were unfair and could be taken both ways.

One that I can think of right now is the pride/reliant one. I believe it can be taken both ways depending on how you look at it.

Another would be the mesh bags, although I didn’t not read carefully enough, it seems as though we have quite a debate over this in the science section thread.

Please don’t post hate comments or something like, “You idiot, the mesh bag one was so easy!”,…because this is just my point of view and you guys don’t have to agree.

Any others?

**** you lol

lol knew that was coming haha.

There was one on the science section that just stumped me completely.

It was like ‘based on student 2’s observations, individual 4 is which genotype?’

The answer choices were:

A) tt or tT
B) blah
C) tt or TT
D) blah

I forgot if A & C were flipped but yeah. I couldn’t find concrete evidence for either one… Felt like a 50-50 question.

^no that was DEFINITELY NOT DEBATABLE. The answer was A.

yea it wasnt debatable airfreshener is correct

I insist emphatically: this issue is not controversial!

^lol ok…

Why was it A? & I’m not sure which I chose :P

No questions should be thrown out. One side of the debate over a question is right and the other side of the debate is wrong. Of course, both sides think they’re right because they can’t accept the fact that they may be wrong. The ACT doesn’t throw questions out; rather, they scale each of the 4 parts of the test according to their difficulty. But even if they did throw questions out, neither of these should qualify. Both could be figured out based on the context of their passages.

Hopefully many reading and english questions  Then maybe my scoree will go up

mesh bags were bad. and the genes one (TT and tt vs TT and tT) was hard too because it required knowledge of genteics that weren’t explained in the passage. im 99% sure i picked TT and tT though… hopefully

My bad for saying ‘thrown out’. I guess it should have said ‘controversial questions’ instead lol :D

Idk about the ACT, but the SAT does throw out questions. On a Q&A from May 200-, a CR was thrown out.

I can’t see why the ACT wouldn’t do the same thong with extremely controversial questions.

^ Haha, “same thong”. Sorry, that was just funny. ;)

Hahaha, sorry, typo.

^the thing is that for every ACT’s of every month it’s offered WE believe that there always controversial questions. They’re not really controversial. People just don’t like getting questions wrong (myself included)

^^^ yes that is understandable. I wish it was like math where there is only one answer that everyone can come to a conclusion to with some explanation. With CR…there are always going to be people (like myself) who reads the passage in a different tone or views it a little differently as reading is left to the reader to interpret a lot ( in normal reading not saying to the ACT exactly) which causes discrepancies. I guess we all can’t win :D

^amen.
