So I live in NJ, and a friend of mine offered to show me around NY. I thought this was just going to be a tour of the campus, but from the sounds of it, we’re going to meet with professors and other faculty, which will provide me with an opportunity to ask questions. However, I’m completely blank, and I can’t seem to come up with a list! I have a few ideas, but I feel unprepared, and I don’t want to embarrass myself.

Can you guys think of any “essential” questions I should ask while on campus? If it helps, I plan to major in philosophy and filmmaking.

Thanks.

1) What is the most challenging thing about teaching at a school like NYU?

2) What kind of students do well in your classes, in filmmaking or in philosophy (if you are talking to faculty from those respective depts. listed as your planned majors)?

3) How is the class you teach in philosophy or in filmmaking different from what is taught in other schools (can give examples of colleges you want the professor to compare to)?

Iseal, I have to say you are getting a special tour thanks to your friend. Make the most of it and come up with questions you are curious about since these classes will play a big part in shaping your thinking and growth (intellectual, social, emotional) as a person.

GL. Enjoy the interactions!
