Questions :))

Hello, I am an international student who never visited US before.

To adapt to US College, I am planning to live in University Park from June.

However, Admission officer said that I can’t have room If I don’t enroll to Summer Semester.

So, any pros and cons of Summer Semester?

Also, is there any other way to live in campus?

(before XTreme Power pops up and tells you summer session is too expensive…)

Only enrolled students can live on campus. Freshmen are required to live on campus. Upperclassmen are not guaranteed housing. If you want to live in State College without being on campus for the summer, you would need to find an apartment to sublet before you arrive. Spring semester is over in about 20 days, so subletting chances are best right now.

Summer session is a regular term at PSU. About 1/2 - 1/3 the students are here, for one reason or another. Most take 2, maybe 3, classes. There are technically two summer class periods, a smaller one beginning early May and one beginning early June. When you register for classes you’ll need to notice the dates a class is in session, because it can vary a little depending on the class.

Pros and cons would seem unimportant in your position – if you want to live on campus, you have to enroll for the summer whether you like it or not.

^ you do have to consider the added cost, it’s not like its unimportant.

Its a great idea to adapt to the US to be around a little extra longer, and from what I hear summer session is usually pretty fun. There’s not as many students around, but that will help the school seem smaller and you’ll be able to make friends that carry over into the rest of the year.

I’m not sure what you mean by another way to live on campus, if you’re a freshman entering the summer session - you’re assigned a room and you have to live on campus in that room until you’re a sophomore at least when you can move off campus

OP, I think, means should s/he enroll in summer session and live on campus, or enroll in Fall and just somehow live in State College as a non-student until fall classes start.
