I’m thinking of applying to University of Chicago and I have a few questions.

On the common application, it says that Chicago does not require SAT IIs only SAT I however I have taken SAT IIs and they would appear on my score report so should I basically self report only my SAT I score not SAT IIs.

Can I retake my SAT I by Nov. and still make it for Early Action?

Will I be at a disadvantage if use the common application and not the Chicago application?

Is there anyway I could visit Chicago without going to their campus since I live in the Northeast?

Only SAT I

Don’t know, but scores would have to be received before EA decisions are made.

Chicago only uses common app, but one must complete their supplement which includes the Chicago essays

Can’t figure out out what you are asking with this one.

Actually, until a short while ago, you could go to Google maps, zoom in to the University, do Street View and cruise up and down every street even inside the quadrangle and see every building as if you were standing in front of it. Apparently the campus is now off-limits for that feature (security reasons?) and you can’t do it anymore. It’s amazing but I could see quite a number of privacy issues.

That Street View feature is available only for a few cities in the US (Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas, maybe NYC). You can still use it to go to all the other streets in Hyde Park and surrounding areas and for that matter all the rest of Chicago.

What I’m trying to say is whether there is another way to show interest in UChicago without visiting since I know that colleges use college visits as a way to see whether applicants will attend each respective college if accepted.

Also, can I change my common application meaning if Chicago does not require SAT IIs I don’t self report them, but for a school like Yale that does require SAT IIs I do report them. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I doubt Chicago will accept self-reported SATs. So your SAT IIs will be on the report. However, if Chicago is like some other colleges, the information from the report will be transferred to a common fact-sheet format, which probably won’t even have a place on it for SAT IIs. It may well be the case that none – or no more than one – of the admissions committee members even knows that you took some SAT IIs.

Chicago says that it doesn’t take account of things like visits to show demonstrated interest. I think if you register with the admissions website and ask for information, and then apply, you’ve demonstrated enough interest. There are lots of pictures online, of course.

We also live in the Northeast and were never able to visit the campus until we dropped off our son for Orientation week. Obviously, his lack of a pre-application visit did not hurt his chances of admission. I think you can demonstrate your interest through your essays. Do the research so you know exactly why Chicago in particular is the right place for you. Being able to write with a sense of humor probably doesn’t hurt either.
