I’m not shooting for outstanding colleges like most of the people on here. I was wondering if anyone knew my chances on the following

Louisiana State University
Baylor University

I’ve already gotten accepted to my two safety schools which are Texas Wesleyan University (Got a dean’s scholarship tuition is paid for) and UT Arlington (I have 6 hours at UT arlington with a 3.00 because I got accepted early when I was a junior for dual credit highschool and college). I want to major in pre-law political science.

Reason I’m worried is because I applied early to baylor and they told me I had to wait for regular decision to find out if I am accepted. I already applied to LSU because they sent me a best and brightest application. My school is public but it’s the best one in the district by far averaging about 3 national merit finalists and additional semi-finalists each year. I have taken 2 AP courses and 3 honors.

Sad thing is I work pretty hard with college and whatnot and I am where I’m at when most people I know don’t work towards it at all. Just looking to see if y’all had any advice.

34 looks and nobody? I know these aren’t the typical colleges on here but can anyone give me any advice? Any places I should apply with my scores?

Don’t feel bad, I have over 400 looks on my thread and 22 replies (14 of which are my own).:(

Ok, since I don’t know about these two colleges aside from their names, I looked on collegeboard.

Baylor:
Very important admission factors:
Class Rank <-----you might run into problems here (68% in top quarter of graduating class and are more like top third)
Rigor of secondary school record
Standardized Test Scores<— your math is below their average, but your verbal is on the high end of their middle 50%
Important admission factors:
Academic GPA
Considered:
Alumni Relation
Character/Personal Qualities
Application Essay
Extracurricular Activities
Geographical Residence
Interview
Recommendations
Religious Affiliation or Commitment
Talent/Ability
Volunteer Work
First generation college student
Level of Applicant’s Interest

Sounds doable-problem might lie with class rank.

Which Louisiana State University? According to collegeboard there are five.

Can you rate my chances (thread should be somewhere at the top of the 2nd page)?

Sure.
Alright, so I estimated a bit, it’s not too far off though.
The counselor at Baylor? Explain any extenuating circumstances that might have lowered your gpa. Don’t be too defensive though- if you don’t have too great of a reason, ignore it. Point out upwards trends in grades. Reiterate why you want to go to the school, and what makes you unique.

It wouldn’t come as a complete surprise if I got in at this last session of acceptance in march but I feel like I’m being jerked around. I figured if I called the counselor and just told her how interested I am at going there and tell her how I visited the campus at fall premier that maybe she would put a good word in for me.

I may be wrong but I feel like I’m boarderline if not already into the school. The letters they send to me claim that they can only let so many people in early and that I should just wait. At the fall premier thing I took a tour and spoke with the students there and they all told me that I would get in with my scores and whatnot.

I fell in love with the school because of the beautiful campus and the very small classes of avg. 14 students to a teacher but the $32k per year isn’t cheap. The small class size there is what is really impressing to me. I feel that getting a degree from Baylor will give me higher LSAT scores for Law School.

I also like the school because I am interested in attending graduate law school there after my undergraduate degree. Graduates in law from Baylor in general start out with some of the highest if not the highest salaries in Texas.

LSU is my other option and it is the typical state school. Huge parties, Killer football team (i could care less but its nice to have), but the class size is like 200+ in some classes. I just need more attention than that. The school is less than half the cost of Baylor though and in the long run I think Baylor would be better. A good education is not cheap.

Worst comes to worst I will use my scholarship at Texas Wesleyan and have no tuition for a year and then transfer to somewhere else.
It’s not a bad school, people do ok there. It’s just small and I really want to get the best experience in both education and meeting people during my college years.
