quick bbb question

i thought there was a way to place an order on bed bath and beyond website that would then be held for pick-up at a designated bbb store (near S’s college). but can’t find a way of doing that (says i can ship to myself or hold/ship to my S’s college address). any idea?

What we had done, was ship to the school bookstore- which held the delivery till move in. Wouldn’t that work?

I think OP is hoping to avoid shipping charges this way. I’d try calling the store nearest the college.

ohhh.
Well it has been a long time & the saving of no sales tax to Oregon ( our rate is around 10%) more than made up for shipping costs- plus I think I just ordered some scratchy sheets and a fold up laundry basket.

The best way to do it is to go into the store. There you can scan what you want like a wedding registry and they hold it at the store where you want to pick it up. No shipping and you do not pay until you pick it up in case you change your mind.

thanks, all. will go to my local store and scan.

There is another rather significant advantage is that when you do the “Pack and Hold” via the scan in the store, similar to a bridal registry.

We used this for D. When we arrived on campus 800 miles away, it became clear that a few items being held for us at BBB would not fit/work. In this case, we simply left those items at the store. There was no “return” involved. It was so easy.

I highly recommend this system if there’s a BBB accessible to the dorms.

OP - we had the same question a couple of days ago and called the local store. you definitely must do it in the store, which was disappointing. we did the whole scan and pack and hold thing last year for D’s freshman year, but this year we were short on time and she just wanted to pick out a few things online and pick them up near school. no such luck. my guess is they want you to do it in the store so you will do more impulse buying (or scanning ;))

that said, the pack and hold system is great and the staff in every single BB&B store we have been to has been incredibly helpful. and you gotta love the coupons.

Go to the store…but also be aware that if you wait TOO close to your date of arrival, they might not do this pack and hold for you. The really nice thing is you pick what you want at the store near home, but if you decide you don’t want it or see something you want instead, you can make the switch. And yes…take your coupons!!

and I can testify that their strategy definitely works. My S who hates to shop REALLY got into that scanning! We did most of his shopping at bbb (but it helped that we had coupons ;))
