Quick Chances please?

Hey im gona apply for fall 2006 and people say UCSD getin tougher even for instate so im just wondering where i stand right now cuz im applying so ya :)

Sat I (new) - 1930 700 verbal, 620 math, 610 writing
Sat II - U.S. History 710 Literature 560
UC Gpa - 4.00
instate asian and not gona major in the sciences and hardcore mathematics stuff, im planning to major in something in the social sciences or business ( the ones tat dont require ALOT of math like marketing management etc.) i dont sux at math but im not crazy gud just proficient.

ec are like avg. only thing diff. is my position in club, ICC REP and 250+ hours at local hospital and 3 sports none varsity cept 1 thanks for input

You’ve got more EC’s than most. I’m sorry I don’t know anything about the new SAT’s, but UCSD doesn’t have a business major. I heard many choose communications or international relations in place of it. I don’t think Social Sciences are that competitive so, as far as I can tell, you’ve got a good shot.

eh thnks i tink my 570 on lit gona hurt me, i really dont care cuz i got into my first choice college already and im just applying to uc’s to keep my options open. ya i kno ucsd dont got business, i tink for ucsd the sciences and math stuff are their strenghts.

just wondering, what was your first college choice?

hm after researching the uscd colleges i picked muir as first and like earl warren and revelle as the alst ones

hey question, when they say 3.0 uw or above to maintain admission, do they calculate only academic courses and do they do that extra point or boost thing if some of the academic classes are aps?

I don’t think they do that boost thing, but I could be wrong. I don’t remember all much anymore. Muir? I like the location. Do you plan on going to the beach?

eh i ono squat bout ucsd other than the fact my cousin is freshman their and my bro. friend is a junior there!! i mean ya i kno tis by the beach i gues tats prety cool. mmh i heards its nice adn warm and prety down there so im assumingsocial life is prety healthy.

Actually social life is dying. There’s not much to do here.

REALLY!?? i mean damn… everyone aroudn myhigh school and area want to go to ucsd and such, cuz its like balanaced ya kno academically and stuff. weird its dying?? hm maybe tooo many smart manthy science kids goin there ruining it haha eh no offense to math/science people ;)

are u stil attending ucsd or did u graduate?? DUDE i heard tat the state of california gona boost public tuition at UC’s like alot, some saying in state total gona be like 25,000-30,000 wut do u tink!!

I just started attending UCSD. Actually, I shouldn’t be complaining too much since I do clubs and volunteering. I just wish there were more places where you could get away from the academic atmosphere you know? I’m also an out-of-stater for my first year so I’m already paying over $25,000-$30,000. But I really hope the tuition doesn’t get that bad.

boost should be by around 500$ a year for in state. not much, but aggregate over a number of years and it bites.

o ya i heard that, but since the terminator is governor i heard hes propsoing plans to decrease public school funding again!! and tats obviously gona effect UC schools. man i h8t tat guy, you kno originially he seemed like i support california i want to give back! now hes like i ono more hostile to californians!! :(

Can someone give me some chances please? I tried making a new thread but for some reason it isnt coming up…

Filipino, parents make 40k/year.

SAT I: 2000 CR: 700, Math: 700, Writing: 600
SAT IIs: Math IIC: 720 (taking Chem, Math (again), and Lit in Dec)

GPA: >3.91

The reason I don’t know my GPA is because I’m including college classes that will count on my weighted GPA (according to a UCSD admissions officer). I have 4 classes so far for junior year (2 per semester) and I am currently taking 2 so far for senior year.

ECs:
Community Service:
5 hrs/week for 52 weeks/year for 4 years (i calculated 1000+ hours. Is this right?)

2 hrs/week for 24 weeks/year for 2 years (~120 hours)

I am also an officer and co-founder of Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honors Society). I have also been doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since the 7th grade.

Agreed on the social scene here. Definitely needs some more hang-out spots and more college-friendly things near by for a more college-ey environment, but i greatly enjoy the fact that UCSD appears to be a very dry (in terms of alcohol, etc) campus. That’s just me, though.
