About how many people are accepted to NAPS each year and how much will going to NAPS improve my chances of getting in USNA. My worst nightmare would be to get into NAPS, graduate, then USNA wouldn’t accept me again for one reason or another and I would have nowhere to go from there…Thank you for your comments

If you successfully complete NAPS, you’re essentially guaranteed an appointment.

NAPS '87 began with approximately 250 USNA M/C’s and 50 USCGA M/C’s.

As USNA1985 said: If you graduate NAPS, you’re in barring something REALLY weird like some bizarre medical condition. It’s almost unheard of. In fact, I can’t think of ever having heard of a real example.

o ok thanks for your help I didnt know you were essentially guranteed an appointment after NAPS, again thanks

I have heard from my son if you have a 2.0 from NAPS you are quaranteed an apppointment to USNA.

That’s about the size of it.

k thank you everyone for your help

Sometimes you get in even if you don’t make a 2.0…not mentioning any names of course… ;)

You mean John Mc…

Oh, never mind. ;)

Burnout, this year’s NAPS class begins w/ 278 students. Sixty-five are prior enlisted (38 Navy, 26 USMC, 1 CG). Fifty-nine are female. Students who graduate w/ a 2.0 and no behavior issues or health problems are promised admission to USNA or USCGA.

If memory serves, that’s been in the high 80% – higher, as Zaphod points out, the year the graduating class included Jack Mc … well, one recent year the standard dipped below 2.0 and the percentage was in the 90’s.

Actually for CGA you need a 2.4 or you have to go to an academic board. That according to the naps web site.

ok thank you all for your help
