How much should I put into DA$H per term? I’m assuming I want to do laundry once a week and go to events every once in a while.

Thanks in advance. :)

How much should I put into DA$H per term? I’m assuming I want to do laundry once a week and go to events every once in a while.

I don’t really have a specified amount, since you can go negative for DA$H. What I do is, whenever my DA$H goes -$10 or something, I put back something like $30 on it. Use up the money (for laundry and various other things), and then repeat.

I think DA$H goes to -100$ before you need to put more on. Laundry is $1.50 per wash/dry (I’m pretty sure), and the average on-campus event (if you’re talking about at Collis Commonground) shouldn’t be more than $10… I think I have $200 on there atm.

there’s a -$100 limit, wash/dry is $1.25/cycle, and campus events max out around $10 yea.

i never put any on, i just wait till i’m -$90+, then refill to zero … you really don’t need that much.

I always kept mine between -50 and -100 and I personally never had trouble having enough for laundry and the occasional event. I never added more than 20 bucks at a time (especially towards the end of my Dartmouth career) because there is basically nothing that you can get with Dash that would cost more than that.

do you actually have to deposit anything in the first place? or can you just let it run negative and add money once you reach the limit?

Hi Xan,

Like Xan, my D let her Dash continually run negative (until it came time to clear her account for graduation) all the while she was in school and it did not stop her from doing anything.

Other than laundry, you really don’t need to use Dash for anything.

ainsivalavie,

I think you must first put money in to a Dash account( in order to establish the account because it is not automatically given to you) before you can let it run negative ;)

yeah, dont put any money on there. let it run negative. seriously, laundry is one of the only things you’ll ever use it for.

is the money from dash stored on your dartmouth id card that you get from 2nd floor of thayer?

yes. your dartmouth id card has three accounts on it: dining (dba), dash, and administrative (overdue library books are charged to this account). your card also has other functions like opening dorms and stuff.

hi, sybbie.

i don’t even think i put any money on it in the first place. i think it just started at zero and then went negative when i first started using it
