quick question about the essay

if I’m doing option three, does it really matter if I clarify who’s a book character and who’s not?

my friends tell me I should clarify that Pi Patel is a character from a book, I assumed that at least one or two of the admissions officers would get it.

I’d say clarify it. While Life of Pi is pretty well known, they might not have read it. And somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think every single adcom reads your essay unless it’s particularly wonderful or something.

well I went on to say he tells a mean story and sort of allude to the book without straight up saying that he’s from a book, because I feel like it would chop up the essay to say he’s from this book by this person

I dont’ know. I jsut want to get in, I don’t want to ruin mychances because I’m worried about the flow of my essay

Perhaps a footnote?

I second the footnote suggestion.
