quick question : APLAC

Do I even need a study guide book if I’m already very good at writing?

If you aren’t taking the class, yes.

I would say you don’t need one, whether you’re taking the class or not.

As long as you familiarize yourself with the different types of essays and know your literary terms, you should be fine.

If you are really good at your English, you could probably get away by just looking at sample FRQs and sample responses available on AP Central. The MC portion of the test is like the SAT on steroids so its very doable without any prep if you are good at reading comprehension in general.

Maybe I got lucky, but I got a 5 just by sitting in an honors/IB english class for three years, doing SAT prep, and having my english teacher briefly explain to me what was on the test.

So I wouldn’t waste your money on a study guide.

Study guide/book not necessary.

Just look at the sample prompts and questions on the CB website. The class really only helped me out by forcing me to do a ton of timed in-class essays. We only did a couple of practice MC sections the week or two before the exam. It would be a good idea to brush up on literary terms to help in your overall analysis though…

Are there any study guides other than CliffsAP that are useful?
