i’ve got a solid list of ec’s with plenty of leadership and initiative, but i have a weak musical background (only took piano through sophomore year, few awards, nothing special)
will not having a strong musical background hurt my chances? i’m trying to show my own passions with writing and soccer (might walk on, not officially recruited but coach has kept in touch)…it seems like everyone who has a good chance has musical ec’s…

Shouldn’t hurt you anymore then the lack of soccor on mine will hurt me. They aren’t looking for any particurlar kind of mold. If you do both writing and soccor you already have a pretty interesting combination.
I did soccor for a year before I decided to focus on music instead, both are pretty time consuming. I doubt that they will expect you to focus in both.
