I’m just curious as to how important test scores are when applying to unc. I got a 34 on my act so I’m hoping that will carry me because I have a decent gpa, not great, not terrible. Great EC, very rigorous school/schedule and great recs. just for reference, I’ve already been accepted to U of Michigan. Please help

Well it depends if you’re is or oos. For both the score is excellent but with regard to your gpa it would benefit you more is

Ohio,

I’m not in the know but I do get the feeling that a high standardized test score won’t overcome an average or even an above average GPA for admission to UNC. I base that on the fact that last year, the average GPA for admittance to UNC was a 4.47 (of course, weighted, which is where the benchmark is). JohnBlack can add more statistical weight to this answer, but I’d have to say that since many schools are valuing the epic academic record so highly, and still looking at standardized tests but probably much less so, it’d be pretty hard to overcome a low/lower GPA with a really high test score. That’s a guess and again, I’m not any kind of wizard at all. Good luck and Michigan is a great school and dude you can have that cold weather!
