Quick Question

I found that my estimated expected family contribution is 05844. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what that means.

Basically it means that if your actual FAFSA EFC is at that level, you won’t be eligible for federal grants although you will be able to borrow the same Stafford loans that all FAFSA filers are entitled to. It’s likely you would be eligible for a TAP grant if you stay instate…you can find the TAP estimator at hesc.org.

Btw, depending on which calculator you used, that may not be a very accurate estimate. If you’d like to see how the actual EFC calculation works, you can refer to the worksheets and tables here:

thank you!

No problem! Are you a junior this year or a senior? Any particular schools in mind?

for financial aid, it is the FAFSA level.
