Quick Question

Today a “friend” stated how she was being recruited by Harvard because she got a “5” on the ap calc test (a feat rather unimpressive at my school), naturally I was very incredulous, and am looking for confirmation that people don’t get recruited for academics. Could it have been that she misinterpreted being recruited for simply getting mail from Harvard? Or do top tier universities (such as Harvard) really give a preference to females who are able to perform well in math?

Yes, she either misinterpreted or misspoke.

^ Second. Heck they barely even recruit athletes. Harvard needs no recruiting for academics, they only accept 5.9% of applicants.

Haha thanks guys, you confirmed what I thought, I guess I can categorize it as the attempted bragging of an ex girlfriend.

Thousands of students apply to Harvard with 5’s on their AP’s. My daughter applied with 6 AP’s – all 5’s (including Calc BC) – and was accepted. My son applied with 8 AP’s – all 5’s (including Calc BC) – and was rejected. It doesn’t mean a thing. As exultationsy said, she either misinterpreted or misspoke.

If receiving an email or some mailed brochure by Harvard is “recruiting” then you can congratulate her on being one of maybe 200,000.

I’ll bet you’re not the only one she is telling that she’s being recruited, too.
