If you’re an undeclared major, does that slow down your process of getting an education and graduating? For instance, if I was going for the BA in something and I was set to grad’ on 14’, but I’m an undeclared major the first year…would I have to waste extra money and time?

Do a lot of colleges offer the option to be an undeclared major the first year?

No, unless you decide after that first year that you want to do something other than a BA. You will (if you go for a BA) only be taking core classes your first year. These are classes everyone will take in order to meet your university’s general education criteria.

However, if you decide after your first year you want to get a BS than yes you will be nearly a year behind in some circumstances. This is because the BS majors usually start you off with core classes that deal specifically with your major right away.

And I am not sure about the % of colleges that offer it. Mine does, and I know quite a few others do. I also know of a lot of schools that say you must declare your major on the application.
