Quick questions

<p>It’s probable this has been asked before, but here it goes:</p>

<p>What income is considered “economically disadvantaged”? </p>

<p>At what point does SES become a hook if it is one?</p>

<p>Also I’m applying to an art summer program at RISD. The cost is around 7,800+ and the only way I could go is with a full scholarship. It depends on need and artistic merit. If anyone has any ideas or guesses, at what point would they consider me to have financial need?</p>

<p>SES is not usually a “hook”. BUT if the program considers financial need, then yours will be considered when they are awarding aid…assuming that your talent is there too.</p>

<p>I will say…many kids cannot afford $7000 summer programs…not just kids from lower income families.</p>

<p>These programs generally have a set amount of financial aid, and it all depends on how many kids apply for it as to how many qualify and what they get.</p>

<p>My cousin’s son applied to something like this and was denied any money initially. At the last minute, they were contacted and told that half price was on the table for them, due to available space and money for his particular program. So he went.</p>
