quick quick quick question

THis college askes me for my dream job and I can write a sentence about it.

I want to do something related to international service

Putting “Something related to international service” sounds ignorant?? I am not sure what I want to yet I just have a vague idea…

or can I just say international service?

I think that considering its your college app and it’s something you really want to do, you ought to put a bit more thought than “international service”. Show the college you really care, albeit if it’s only in a sentence.

oh but I don’t know what I want to do yet… Just know that I am interested in international service:(

True, but you don’t necessarily have to specify your dream job in the sentence. Try something along the lines of “I want to assist others and make a global impact by working in a vast multitude of countries through international service”. Be concise, but eloquent.

sounds awesome can I take that

I don’t necessarily mind, but I don’t take responsibility for the consequences either. (Just trying to save myself from blame haha). I’m a junior anyways, I’m not applying to colleges, so be my guest.

Okay don’t tell anyone this is a secret

the term is awfully vague. Missionary? Mercenary? Cabin attendant?

The OP probably is interested in International Relations or Diplomacy and wishes to work for the government abroad. I’m speculating that’s the intent.

Thanks IndianOptimist…But I don’t think that’s what I want to do.
But then, I don’t know what I want to do.

What about saying

I hope to find this out at xyz school? Is this lame?

Sure, if it’s a liberal arts school - then that’s what it’s all about - education through self discovery.

No if you’re trying to get into a engineering, nursing, business (pre-professional) school.

It’s for USC!

So
I am going to put
“I hope to find this out at USC”

Okay?
It sounds Okay
Doesn’t it?

Yes
I am paranoid about my college apps.

Or

Taking out “this”

and just
I hope to find out at USC

sounds better?

I think I’d want more from a kid if I was asking them to describe their dream job.

In this dream job, WHERE would you be? Greenland? Panama? Paris? Siberia?

WHAT would you be wearing? Khaki jacket with pockets and epaulets? Stilletos?

WHO would you be speaking to? Tribal chief? UN executive? School children?

WHEN would you be working? Dark of night? Crack of dawn? Leisurely lunch?

Would you be fluent in another language? Where would you dine? Five stars or street kebabs?

I’m not sure if you are going for Indiana Jones, Mata Hari, Coco Chanel or Sir Richard Branson or James Bond – or Dr. Doolittle. I think you have some ideas and either are too shy or too lazy to drag them out! Hey, the question is about a dream job. Be bold! Say something!

How about something along the lines of “I am not entirely sure at the moment, but I wish to be involved in a field related to International Service in my future.”?
