Quickly! Approxiamtly 250 wrds, what about 268?

Hmm,
I’m doing a personal statement. It says “Approimatly 250 words”, I have 268 word, should I try to knock off 18 words or is it ok?
How much leyway does appromixatly mean 25 words in each direction (over and under)?

its fine, imo

I hear that there’s a “10% rule” for essays, so basically don’t go 25 over or under in this case. You’re fine. It really is only a problem when upon a glance it’s obvious that you wrote way more or less than the approximate limit.

18 words is not a big deal at all…they’re not going to be counting how many words you actually wrote…it’s more a matter of appearance…and how long it would take them to read it :)

When they say 250 words/500 words, what they mean is 1/2 a page or a full page. Don’t even worry about 268.

It’s not 10%, it’s 5%.
Imagine a 1000 word limit essay and you write 1100… lol
