Quiet environment dorms

Hi so I’m gonna be a freshman in the fall and selected the quiet environment for my dorm. I am just curious as to how the lifestyle is like in a quiet dorm? I m a natural introvert, but I’m trying to be more sociable.

When I was there, most of the people were either placed there because there wasn’t enough room in other dorms (this was before the new Tercero buildings were finished) or their parents made them sign up for it. As such, a lot of people disregarded the extended quiet hours. Fortunately for those of us that actually wanted the quiet (of which I was one of them), RAs were usually pretty good about enforcing the hours and people quickly learned to go elsewhere if they wanted to be loud.

Incidental noise will always happen. You’ll always be able to hear your neighbor listening to music or watching TV, unless they either have headphones on or have it super quiet. But the extended quiet hours kept most of the ridiculous noise at bay on the actual floor. That said, they can’t enforce it on non-quiet floors so you’ll likely still get people above/below (depending on floor) you being loud if they want to be. So while your actual floor may be quiet during the extended period, if someone below you is blasting music with bass loud enough to shake the walls, there’s not too much they can do about it unless it’s that floor’s quiet hours.

Or put another way, it really depends on the people on your floor and the floors above and below you.
