My son was accepted to the 3+3 (or 4+3) DPT program as well. Also received $33000/year for undergrad and $30000/year for grad school. We visited twice from Colorado, and I think this is his first choice. Also, this is the most merit aid offered so far (still awaiting acceptance decisions on a few more schools), and the only assurance of grad school aid he has received.
Do you mind to share what attracts you to make Quinnipiac as first choice besides generous merit and direct admit DPT. We have not yet visited but plan to do it in spring.
Response to why Quinnipiac is likely his #1 right now:
We are from Colorado. He wants to go to the state flagship, CU, but they donāt offer a freshmen-admitted accelerated DPT program. In addition to CU, we visited 10 schools (he didnāt apply to Hofstra or St Johnās accelerated PA and PharmD programs as he has decided on DPT). Accelerated DPT he applied to are: Boston, Drexel, Duquesne, Elon, Marquette, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart Saint Josephās, Saint Louis, and Seton Hall. We visited all except for Duquesne and Saint Louis, so they are not high on his list. He has visited Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart twice. Of the states we visited, he liked Connecticut the best. He liked the campuses (the main campus butts up to a State Park, with a hill where he could do some hiking). He was able to see the other campuses (residential and health), and liked the looks of those, as well. They have a shuttle between the campuses. The off-site residential campus looks/feels like a ski resort. likes how it is tucked away in its location-a somewhat rural feel, but also near urban areas. As far as the program, he likes that he has the option to do 3+3 or 4+3, if he finds the 3+3 too rigorous. He also likes that they have a Sports Medicine DPT track, as that is where his interest lies. He has done inpatient and outpatient shadowing, including at a hospital near ski resorts, where they deal with a lot of outdoor sports-related PT. Having visited twice, he has a better sense of what life would be like. He second visit was an all-day event. He has been able to speak with department staff and students more in-depth than at other places. I think he has a comfortability with Quinnipiac.
So far, he has been accepted to Duquesne, Q, St Joeās, and Seton Hall. Of those where he is admitted, itās not close for him. Waiting on others. His second favorite is probably Marquette. Boston is a stretch school.
Thank you. DS has similar list but we want him to stay within 6 hours driving distance of NJ. His first choice is actually Pitt which he didnāt get the guarantee to their DPT but only admitted as Pre-PT. Quinnipiac is his first direct admit DPT with merit. While we feel excited about it, we also have concern of diversity and not sure if DS can fit it well.
Just waitlisted for their ELMPA. Weāre not too broken up about it because their accreditation issues and the litigation against the program were a little too concerning to overlook.
Can you elaborate on accreditation issues? Son just got accepted this morning and now Iām concerned
Their PA program is on probationary status with the regulatory board as thereās a number of issues with it. Not sure if it has to do with the person who sued them for discrimination due to her mental health issues.
My daughter was also just accepted to the ELMPA program. I would hope the accreditation issue would be a top priority for the University. She has 2 other interviews coming up in January, but Q is currently her top choice.
I just learned that Pittās DPT program also got put on 2 years probation so I guess itās not really big deal as long as they can address the issue within 2 years.
Itās a big deal if they canāt fix the issues and they lose their accreditation. Iāve heard nightmare stories from students of programs that lost their accreditation. Not something Iād be willing to gamble with; she wouldnāt have applied had it happened prior to her submitting. She didnāt apply to Arcadia for that reason.
I agreed. I will not chance it either. I am glad Quinnipiac DPT accreditation just got renewed for another 10 years.
Yeah, thatās great! Seems like if they can turn it around, thatās what often happens. It happened with Duquesne-- I think their PA program when it came of probation is now renewed until 2032. Itās still a risk, but I have heard amazing things about the program and school.
Has anyone been accepted or know current students in the medical sonography program? Would love to connect to ask a few questions!
Accepted - School of Business Finance program $23K Deans scholarship
Hearing there is a wave coming out next week. Pretty confused on why we havenāt heard. EA 1400 SAT and 3.3 GPA from a hard-grading NE hs. elite hockey player (though not enough to make Qās varsity - they are NHL level.) Finance. His friends heard weeks ago.
S24 also applied EA and hasnāt heard back yet even though the portal said he should hear by mid-December. 3.93 GPA and 1400+ SAT. Iām sure we will hear in the next wave.
Maybe some departments are faster than others.
Great stats! Which dept? My son applied for business. A poster above in November got a deans scholarship in business with lower stats, but could be many factors
