i just got accepted (
) but i really want to drop calculus my second semester. will they not accept me anymore if i drop this? i’d like to do zoology as a major though, would i need a full year of calculus for zoology? thanks!

You definitely need Calculus one for zoology, but not calc 2. However, you still need 2 years of math.

You might wanna try checking degree navigator if its available to you yet, degnav.msu.edu

If you are taking calculus in high school, and are planning on dropping it (and already have the 2 years required to get into MSU) go ahead! There is nothing stopping you, just make sure to email admissions with any changes in your senior year classes. You will have math requirements in college, and you will likely have to take calculus over again (but college-style) but it doesn’t make a difference if you took it in high school or not (unless you get AP credit for it).

what if it’s pre calc but I’m applying for soc/anthro/something along those lines?

Call your admissions counselor at MSU and ask him/her about it. My daughter quite French 5 second semester senior year but not until she knew for sure that it wouldn’t change her admissions status to the schools she was considering.
