Quite a Unique Potential Applicant for Yale

Heres my breakdown, and thanks for taking a look at this thread.
SAT Scores- 2290 (800 CR, 750 grammar, 740 math)
SAT II - 770 Math II, 750 WHistory, 710 Chemistry (never took an AP chemistry) all 3

AP Scores: WHistory, US. History, Biology, Calculus AB, Psychology, English Language: 5

Senior Classes: AP physics, ap gov, ap econ, ap statistics, ap english literature, Jazz band

Extra Curriculars: Internship 10th and 11th grade summer at Newport Beach City Hall, revenue division and city managers division.

Participated 4 years in youth city council (it is what the name states)

Violin/Piano for 11/12 years, CM level 10 completed in Piano, Violin: various international concert tours and fundraisers. Jazz band (piano) for 4 years

Ran varsity track sophomore year in hurdles, did not continue.

Taekwondo Black belt, gold medalist in southern california open tournament 2010, silver in 2009.

Suspension record: 9th grade, last week of school twice, one on monday-tuesday, another on wednsday to friday. Pranking, dishonesty to a teacher (<– this last one will probably be removed due to a new principal willing to do so)

Thoughts? I think that I have a chance, but certainly should not expect to get in…I must say I really like what I hear/see about Yale, and would be delighted if I got in.

How do you get a 4.4 like where do those Things exist?!? And what are those high scores your getting on your history thing? And the suspension=hilarious lol

you can earn above a 4.0 by taking AP classes that award 5.0 instead of 4.0 for an A.
those 770 750 710 are SAT II Subject tests
the other things are AP scores, do some internet reading, its kinda cool.

I think you’ve assessed your situation well. Decent chance. GPA and disciplinary record may need to be explained (depending on the surrounding circumstances).

Yea I go to a school that sends kids to Ivy league schools every year and I’ve never heard of that, hmm maybe I shooouuld check that out

@aveton
yeah, your school is in a minority of non ap offering schools…its a good program.
@ hecatonchires
ah nice! decent chance makes me feel better haha…any thoughts to how i could help my chances? I really feel passionate about going to yale, coz TBH I party and live a good high school life and I want a Ivy school that is prestegious where I can unwind after a days hard study and have a lot of fun. From all my reading and stuff yale/upenn are the two top choices in that regard, and yale is just higher up, and will probably offer more financial aid.

@everyone else…opinions? questions? any information about how life as a freshie is at yale?

it cpu;d that his school offers APs, but they just don’t weight the grades differently - that’s what my school does.

I’m no expert tehjap, but personally if you’re looking for a prestigious school that also has quite a bit of partying, I’d recommend checking out Dartmouth. They’ve got a really strong Greek life. Interestingly enough, the guy who wrote Animal House based it on his greek house at Dartmouth, so, you know…
Also, not quite as prestigious, but just as much of a party, check out UW Madison. I live in WI, and Madtown being a party school is one of the reasons I’m NOT applying there.

On my resum

@wright thanks i’ll check out dartmouth…but i’m not really into greek life specifically, but i dont really know the differences between that stuff :D

@aveton not your resume. personal statement maybe?

@ everyone else…more feedback please!!
