qusetion about signing up for classes

Hi everyone I am going to be attending UCLA in the fall as a freshman in the Honors program. I will be attending orientation session 109. My question is that I have been told that kids in the Honors program have precedence over others when signing up for classes, but I also hear that the earlier orientation sessions take many spots on a “first come first serve” basis. So what happens to someone in the Honors program in a late orientation? Is there really “honors precedence” or is it just a myth?

the honors priority starts in winter quarter if you are in the honors program- it does not apply to summer orientation because you will enroll with your OC. yes, 101 will have more preference over those in 109, but keep in mind the entire school has also enrolled before 101 even starts so in a sense all freshmen are in the same situation. dont worry, even those in 111 will walk out with 3 classes.

For what its worth, I attended 104 and there were already some people who said they didn’t get the classes they wanted. It might just mean they got the class they wanted, but not at the times they prefer. I guess my best suggestion would be to have a really open mind when you get there

thats affirmative, i went to 104, and my major pre-requisites were full. also, engcomp 3 was near full, we are talkin about 3/4 ppl left in every class. i was lucky enough to get in on lecture 38.

also, i’ve been told at a workshop that all the polisci classes were full b4 101
