R on Transcript Help?

Hello,

So basically during my junior year I flopped and have to retake the regular US History class over the summer, because my teacher said I cheated and was mad that I denied it (even though the truth is a little more in the gray area). Basically my counselor/admin is giving me another chance and says that he will not write about any such academic violation in his letter, and is suggesting that I say something along the lines of “miscommunication with teacher” when explaining the R on my transcript.

That is really good news for me, but I was wondering if a phrase as short as “miscommunication” would be sufficient information to explain the retake of a REGULAR class, especially when my other grades don’t match up to what happened. I’m wondering what exactly could I put for that line to not hurt my chances but also not show dishonesty? Any thoughts?

I think you don’t say anything and let your counselor handle it in the letter of rec. You should not be writing this stuff. This is exactly what the counselor should write, especially if he said he will not note it as an academic violation. Talk with him again.
